• $11,000 collected so far of the $13,500 needed

     Motion made by Dave to give $1000, Second Randy Bowman

Commander Michael Harris spoke about the Christmas fund money. Looking for ideas for this year.  Wrapping up by end of October.

The regular meeting of the AMERICAN LEGION POST 1919 was called to order at 1905 on 13SEP23 at the 1919 Post by Commander Michael Harris.

Approval of Minutes

Previous meeting minutes passed out and reviewed by members. Motion to accept minutes: Dave Everett, Second by Doree Boger.

The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as distributed.

 

Committee Reports

 

Finance Committee – Doree Boger reported that there was no report. Then preceded to report that she will work with Mike Tomes in order to get squared away for future reports.

Motion to accept report: Given and seconded in due order.

 

Membership Committee – Post membership is at 58.4%. Post is up to 5 or 6 10yr memberships now. Dues will increase for 2025. Will check on 10yr membership for people who already paid.

-Looking to start a “Vet to Vet” called “We Honor Veterans”

-Self directed time to sit with Veterans who are currently on hospice

-“Veterans interact differently with Veterans”

Finance officer brought plans to E-Board about purchasing a new safe. Price would be less than $300. Was approved by E-Board and Commander OK’d the cost.

 

Good of Legion

Dave Everett reported that the 7^th District Meeting will be held at the Mooresville Post on 21OCT23. Please attend if possible. Spoke about membership.

 

Scott Emmett and Phil Martinez gave a presentation about “Fortitude”

 

Michael Roderick shared with members that a Train show will take place on the 3^rd and 4^th of August of 2024.

Charles Teague introduced himself as a new member.

 

Commander Michael Harris spoke about the Christmas fund money. Has not been spent in the past. Looking for ideas for this year. Also, looking for ideas on events for the post for next year.

 

Pass the Hat - Gary Totty asked to Pass the Hat – Collected $31.29 and was delivered to Finance Officer Doree Boger.

 

Meeting was adjourned at 1950 by Commander Michael Harris. The next general meeting will be at 1900 on 10Oct23, at Post 1919.

• Commander handed out certificates from Larry year for helping at the train show
