Opening
The regular meeting of theAMERICAN LEGION POST 1919 at 1901hrs. 11 AUGUST 2026 by Commander Tim Morris with appropriate opening ceremonies.

- Money spent was for website (2months).
Motion to accept report by Gary Totty. Second by Terry Smiley.
The financial report for unanimously approved as distributed. Motion Carried.
Membership Committee
Terry Smiley
- Membership starts a new year, 98 members signed up. Our tentative goal is 230. Would like to be first in district to meet.
- Early bird cutoff for paying early is September 1. We will be voting on an early bird October dinner with a tentative date of October 17th.
- Terry Smiley makes motion to approve up to $750.00 for the early bird dinner. Menu tentatively is grilled pork chops, mac and cheese and more. Motion made by Chairperson of Membership second through discussion. Question asked for the drawing for early birds to win a PUFL, do you have to be present to win? Answer was no. Motion was passed unanimously.
- Commander Tim Morris presented 100% membership award 25/26 for post 1919 to Chair Terry Smiley and placed the 100% membership banner on top of Post 1919 Legion Flag.

Dirk Titus Commander Squadron 1919.
- Next meeting date: 27 August 2026 1800hrs.
- SAL Squad 1919 met July 23rd to help man the outreach booth at the Johnson County Fair. Terry Miley, Dirk Titus, Tim Traub, Liam Scruggs, and Michael Harris were there. Had some members sign up and have names to call. Thanks to Mike Harris for being the point man.
- Representative Shreve invited several members to attend a Purple Heart ceremony to the grandson of a World War l veteran. VFW Commander Rodney Davis and AL Commander Tim Morris attended.
- Blood drive on 25th July was light.

Entertainment Committee

VFW / Legion Entertainment Committee.
- Will be hearing more about the Filipino event that happened at 252.
- August 1 at AL 252 was the Filipino culture event Vince will talk more about it.
- August 4 Coast Guard Birthday movie is The Guardian that week.
- Air Force Birthday will be showing the movie 12 0’clock high.
- Movies coming up are Pirates of the Caribbean, Secondhand Lions, and Star Trek 4.
- Dave Everett said the poker committee had requested a trial period for Poker on Wednesday nights at 7pm with cash games at 5pm. Get the word out.

Unfinished Business
- Mike Palmer mentioned riding in the Nation Legacy Run which is this month. I leave Indianapolis and go to Lincoln, Nebraska and go though Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, finishing up in Kentucky. Completing 1800 miles on a motorcycle will report on the next meeting and taking a lot of pictures.
- Mike Harris talked about the parades for the summer ending with the Franklin parade. A very good community outreach with wanting to sign up for Boys Sate and Girls State.
- Commander Tim Morris talked about the good it does for our organizations to get out there to the public and be seen and wanted to thank all who participated. Also wanted an after-action report on the table at the fair, 2 things that we want to continue doing and 2 things that we need to work on.
- Gary stated that need applications for all organizations and not to share space with another Legion. Mike stated he had a gentleman that could not join the military due to his back, but he wanted to donate $60.00 to the Christmas fund. Gave to Finance officer. To get more children friendly displays to get parents to stop at table. Dale Berger said had number to Big Boys Bakery and they said they would donate donuts or cake anytime we needed.
- Vince Moran from AL 252 to communicate between posts to help.
- Dirk Titus mentioned that not a lot of people know about scholarships for their children and can be used as a recruiting tool.
- Contract signed for our office at $350.00 good for another year.
- Bonding working on getting it completed.
- Membership chairs need completed Terry Smiley will come around and ask.
- Dale Berger went over notes on District Meeting at Worthington, IN.
- Next District Meeting 22 August in Brazil, IN, Then 12 September in Jasonville at 1300hrs.
- Hat was passed for donations to Holiday Party. $89.00 collected including donation of $60.00
New Business
- National Convention Delegate forms
- Finance committee working on an annual budget.
- Department Fall Conference is coming up October 2-4 and the National Fall Conference 4-7
- Flag education chairperson needed. No later than end of this month Flag education material needs to be ordered. Material is for fourth graders, coloring books.
Good of the Legion
- Vietnam traveling wall will be in Plainfield IN September 18-21 at Hummel Park.
- Coffee with Veterans last Saturday of the Month in Fishers IN.
- Johnson County has a Military Appreciation Day September 12 starting at 4pm at the Johnson County Amphitheater
- Post 64 has a car show coming up in September.
- Vince Moran was recognized looking for a new date different venue for Filipino cultural event. Venue requested VFW post 5864. Working on getting date locked in.
- Mike Palmer stated that the American Legion Riders on Patriot Day Sept 11 are meeting at Post 34, Kensington Post at 54th and Keystone and riding to the canal to the 911 Memorial for a service leaving at 1830hrs and arriving at Canal at 1900 hrs.

- Benefits Advisor Chris Torzewski, touched on property tax credit have until December 30 to file. Need DD214 and letter of rating from VA.
- Dave Everett – We will be hosting the hospitality room on all 3 conferences at 21st and Shadeland. The purpose of hospitality is to foster our comradeship with our other members around the state but also locally.
Closing ceremonies performed.
