Opening
The regular meeting of the AMERICAN LEGION POST 1919 at 1900 hrs. 09 June 2026 by Commander Tim Morris.

Membership Committee

104.04% of 2026 (206 of 198) Goal, as of 12 May 2026.
District 7 went from last place to first place. Still need 144 cards to reach 100%.
Dues have increased to $55. The 10-year option is still available. It is a Department program and the cost is $400 for 2026. This is still your best option. If you are a 10-year member, you will still get a renewal note from National. You are paid up. National has a 3-year program at $55 each, $165 total. Paid Up For Life is another option. Ask an officer or check the website for the schedule of fees. 2027 Membership begins July 2026.

1918 HRS motion to suspend motion by Dirk Titus, seconded by Mike Harris, passed.
1927 HRS motion to unsuspend meeting by Dirk Titus seconded by Dave Everett passed.
- Closing of the Books for American Legion.
- Dave Everett attended, at the Veterans Home in Lafayette IN and it was a great experience. Lots of Fellowship. Highlights:
West Lafayette Post 492 put on some events could be a fun outing for our legion Families. Karaoke was comedic.
- Commander Morris asked Dale Berger about issue of refunds for nursing home visits. Dale stated working on it and will follow up.
- Bonding Doree working on issue
- June 27 Greenwood Freedom Fest parade
- Mike Harris reported logistics still being worked on.
- Transportation from Post 5864 at 1400hrs.
- 1600 hrs. start time of parade
- July 18 Johnson County Fair parade.
- Mike Harris reported waiting on logistic also on that.
- Staging out of Franklin Middle School. Plenty of Parking will have military vehicles there.
- There will be an indoor booth sharing area with Franklin American Legion in the hall. Giveaways being gathered.
- Starts Sunday at 1100 HRS until 2200 HRS. Hopefully there are 1 or 2 people at booth. See Mike Harris about parking passes. Suggestion made to include Johnson County VSOs.
- Canopy Update.
- Dirk stated we now have a 10x10 canopy with American Legion signage plus on balance side had Legion, Auxiliary SAL, and Rider’s verbiage.
- SAL old business 25 July blood drive 800-1400.
New Business
- Monthly contract with VFW 5864.
- Commander requested a motion to continue the same contract, same verbiage with VFW for another year, Dave Everett made motion Dirk Titus seconded, motion passed.
- Indianapolis Hilton East.
- Membership Drive plan.
- Terry Smiley plan on doing two buddy checks this year and developing other strategies.
- Johnny Dixon discussed the trip to Washington DC trip and Laying Wreath on tomb of unknown soldier.
Good of the Legion
- Gina Howard stated Buddy checks do give results for membership and encouraged this to be done.
- Manuel Fosco, 96-year-old Korea War Veteran, was introduced.
- American Legion exclusive offer, $25.00 off grandstand, plus garage passes for the Borchetta Grand Prix in Nashville TN, all legion members should have received an email form offer.
- Dave Everett stated he was slated for 7th District Commander and thanked the leadership of post. 97% for retention.
- Auxiliary President
- 100% retention 1st in state.
- July 3 America 250th Birthday celebration at post.
- Fundraisers – pampered chef party in August, Wicks pies, Craft fair November 7th, started supporting the Poker Tournament on Saturday’s.
- Support 3 retirement homes
- District Meeting.
- Greenwood Post 22.
- 13 Jun 2026. Lunch at 1130hrs, chicken alfredo, salad, dessert per Barb Quinn 252 Auxiliary president.
- All meetings begin at 1400 with lunch preceding at 1100.

- Legion Riders June 13, 2026 event in Bloomington IN.
- Flag day Martinsville at 0900, and Franklin at 1800 hrs.
- July 9-10 is Department Convention. Hoping to recognize Liam as Jr. ROTC of the year 7th
- August 28-September 3 is National Convention in Louisville KY.
Pass the Hat and 50/50
- Pass the hat $100.00.
- 50/50 not held.
Closing ceremonies performed.
