Opening

The regular meeting of the AMERICAN LEGION POST 1919 at 1905 hrs.  08 April 2025 by 1^st Vice Commander Gary Totty.

The minutes of the previous meeting unanimously approved as distributed.

Membership Committee

80.3% of 2025 (167 of 208) Goal, as of 08 April 2025.

Reminder emails will be going out next week to alert passed due membership.

Dues have increased to $55. The 10-year option is still available. It is a Department program and the cost is $400 for 2025. This is still your best option. If you are a 10-year member, you will still get a renewal note from National. You are paid up, just see membership chair with questions/concerns. National has a 3-year program at $55 each, $165 total. Membership year begins 01 July 2025. Renewal notices will be coming soon.

• Meetings will be the first Saturday of month at 1100 Hours.
• Upcoming Events
  • Movie Night: Thursday, 13 FEB 1800, Hrs in Bar Area.
    • Still showing Band of Brothers followed by a featured movie.
    • Pacific to be shown in May.
  • VFW Auxiliary is having an Easter Party, 13 Apr 1300-1500 in Banquet A.
  • Six-Week Comedy Boot camp: Sundays, 1300-1600 in Day Room.
    • Two more sessions left. Graduation will be on Sunday, 4 May 1400 in Banquet A. Come out and support them!
  • Poker Tournament $100 buy-in, 19 Apr 1800-2300 in Bar area.
  • Entertainer “Stefan” a former Cruise Ship singer, 26 Apr Time TBD.

 

Flag Committee

• Will reach out to area Goodwill stores to see if can get their donated flags.
• Help with cleaning and replacing area business flags.
• American Legion Flag and Emblem has a ‘Flag Rewards’ program in which we can received credit for each flag ordered with our post 1919 listed on the form.

  • Franklin will have a booth at the Johnson County Fair and has invited us to help run and manage the booth, 19-23 July 2025.
    • We will be able to have members from our post there to help sign up new members either at our post or another within Johnson County.
  • Edinburgh Post 233 has been invited to participate.

        • It is Highly recommended to attend.
